Who Are We

We are a couple of people who truly believe that every animal deserves their “fairytail” ending. We are pet recruiters! Our pets are our clients. We get to know them, their strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes, and find a purr-fect full time home for them. Stray cats and abandoned pets have really become an epidemic; especially in urban areas like Hudson County NJ.

I didn’t grow up with pets of my own. I wasn’t allowed to have a pet so I didn’t understand how much love and joy a pet can bring. In the Fall of 2005, I was going through a tough time in my life. One day, just after crying and praying for things to change, a little 5 week old kitten came into my life and changed everything. He was alone on a street in Jersey City, under a dumpster. It was October. After some coercion, I scooped the little guy up and took him home. I had no idea what to do with him. I picked up some kitten food, asked some questions about what else I would need and then I did something that would change my life. I opened my heart up to this little kitten and gave him a home. My little kitten became my cat Chester. He loves me with his entire kitten heart. He became my furry child, my snuggle buddy and my best friend. If I had not rescued Chester that morning, I would have missed out on my entire life to come.

After finding Chester, I began learning much more about rescuing, fostering, and TNR (trap neuter release). I learned how to build outdoor shelters for feral cats. I learned that although I can’t save every animal, I can do a lot, even though I am just one person.

Over the last 6 years, I have been blessed to meet some amazing people who share my passion for helping. We have come together as an ‘unofficial’ organization and have helped rescue, foster, and place many cats. These cats would be homeless on the street or in a shelter if we did not step in and help. Many people don’t think they can do much on their own, but our motto is, ‘if you see something, do something.’ Occasionally we even have a dog who needs our help and of course we do what we can to help all of our ‘clients.’

We are not a shelter or a rescue organization. We are just a few people with our own full time jobs who want to help. We support our local shelters and donate money and supplies to them regularly. However, shelters across the country are overwhelmed with pets of their own. We try to help by doing what we do instead of just bringing the pets we come across to them. This blog is about our success stories! It’s a place for people to ask questions and share their stories. It’s a place to see updates on the happy families we helped put together. It’s a place to share information about ways people can help if they want to get involved.
