Tiger Tabbies!!! Need Forever Homes!

MEET Jackson & Jules! Anyone who knows me, knows I have a super soft spot for tiger tabbies! Two siblings, found off of River Road, need their forever homes. They are adorable and super sweet. 6 weeks old as of 5/23/14. We will be printing & hanging flyers and hopefully interviewing some potential adopters!

Community Colony - Trying to get help to TNR

We have been trying to TNR a large colony in our neighborhood for some time. We have taken in several kittens, and a couple of very friendly adult cats, paid for their medical attention and found them amazing forever homes, but we need to help control this colony!! TNR is the ONLY way to do that. We have a low cost spay/neuter program that we can work with BUT it is still $40-$50 a cat.
With 20+ cats, that can be upwards of $1000.00. We need the neighbors help to fund this effort. They are all very pretty & healthy cats but the colony needs to be controlled before things continue to get worse.
The $40-$50 pays for the spay/neuter and a rabies shot. It also pays for a little ear tip, which does not hurt the cat. It is a small tip of the left ear so we know who is fixed and who isn't.
Neutering a cat not only helps control the population but cats who are fixed will fight much less if at all, they will stop spraying which will reduce odors in the area and most of all, no more kittens! No more kittens, no more injuries, no more howling and no more smell!
It's a win win for bith cats & people!!
Hopefully the neighborhood will help us with this effort and make a donation to us so we can help!
Some pictures of the kittens that we rescued from this colony last week. Five lovely kittens. They are doing so great and will have wonderful homes soon.

We also rescued this adult cat from the community colony about three weeks ago, Mid April 2014. We named him Batman.
He is a super sweet cat, about 4 years old.
He had a severe Upper Resp. Infection, so bad he could barely breathe.
He could not eat anymore bc he couldn't smell of taste the food. He was weeks away from certain death.
Batman is now very healthy. He is doing great and we are looking for his forever home too. He is now neutered and has been medicated for his URI and is a healthy happy boy!

From Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue... I love it.

"For animal lovers like me, rescue is the most incredible, rewarding job… in the history of ever.
At the same time… it’s also the most heartbreaking…
The truth is… You see a lot of things… you never thought you’d see.
You witness a level of cruelty… you didn’t think was possible.
You feel a degree of helplessness… you never thought you’d know.
You stare at painful images… soon burned into your memory…
that will haunt your thoughts forever.
You try to pick up the pieces… so many pieces… of the damage you didn’t do.

You do everything in your power… but even still… you’ll never reach them all.
You’ll try to stay strong… but you’ll mostly feel weak.
You’ll build walls to protect your heart… but they’ll never keep you safe.
You’ll place barriers around your soul… but the pain will always reach you.
And no matter how hard you try to fight it… over time… here’s the truth about what happens in animal rescue…
The neglect changes you.
The abuse hardens you.
The suffering breaks you.
The ignorance angers you.
The indifference disturbs you.
The injustice destroys you.
On a daily basis… your faith will be tested…
Your heart will be wounded…
Your soul will be altered.
On a weekly basis… you’ll question yourself…
You’ll question your strength…
You’ll question the world.
On a monthly basis… you’ll fall down…

You’ll get up….
You’ll go on.
On a yearly basis… you’ll look back..
You’ll see faces…
You couldn’t save them.
You’ll learn to mourn. To grieve. To sob.
You’ll learn to trust a little less. To do a little more. To fight a little harder.
You’ll learn to try. To hope. To pray.
You’ll learn to fail. To succeed. To accept.
You’ll learn when to hold on. When to give up. When to let go.
You’ll learn who you are. What you stand for. Why that matters.
Then… at times… you’ll forget why you matter.
You’ll question what you’re doing.
You’ll wonder if it’s worth it.
But… here’s the good news… When you forget… When you question… When you wonder…
All you have to do… Is take a look around… And you’ll see them.
You’ll see their faces.
You’ll see their smiles.
You’ll feel their love.
In their eyes, you’ll see their journeys…
You’ll remember their beginnings…

You’ll know how far they’ve come…
You’ll remember when they didn’t know you…
When they didn’t trust you…
When they’d given up.
You’ll remember how you healed them…
How you loved them…
How they loved you, too.
And as you look back… You’ll want to move forward…
For them… and because of them.
In your darkest hours, you’ll look around…
To find the differences made… the hope given… and the lives saved…
Because you existed.
In those moments, when you look into their eyes…
every doubt will be erased.
Every question will be answered.
Every worry will subside.
Because in that instant… in each of your hearts…
You both share the very same thought:
“Every bit of pain was worth it… for this moment here with you.”
And honestly… no matter what else happens…
Those moments hold all the strength you need… To keep going.
Rescue is pain.
Rescue is joy.
Rescue is worth it… because they are worth it.
And that’s the honest truth."

One More Update - Audrey!

We wanted to do one more update today!! Audrey is doing great in her new home with her big sis Peggy. Peggy wasn't sure about the new addition at first but after a few months of testing the water, the two became official sisters! They play together, groom each other and Peggy even lets Audrey eat first and then eats after her. We are so happy for Audrey and her family :) For those who don't remember, Audrey was a baby kitten, about 5-6 weeks, found in a large feral colony with an eye infection. We scooped her up and took her in and she was an instant love! Look how she has grown!

Meet Annie - Looking for her home :)

Meet Annie!! Our beautiful little girl who we rescued over the weekend!
Annie decided it was time to be an indoor baby. She went up to my friends door at 3am, and started meowing to be let in.
Jorge, who adopted our Lola several years ago, let her into his entrance way, bc Lola is not a cat's-cat ;)
He called me early the next day and asked if I could help.
I went over, met Annie and took her to the vet. She is a very healthy 4 month old baby girl. My friend Louise has been begging for a foster, so Annie went right to her home. They adore her. We are starting to look for Annie's forever home and can't wait to do an update once she has found it. She is just beautiful, playful, sweet, and loves to purr.

Lots of wonderful updates!!!

Meet Freddy!! Freddy was a rescue as a pup from Turks & Caicos. He is a 4 year old Shepherd Mix. His owner's got in touch with me recently asking if I could help find Freddy a new home. Freddy was scared of their young daughter. With another baby on the way, they felt their home would be just too chaotic for Freddy. He was hiding all of the time. After a few months of searching, and with the help of my best friend who posted Freddy's flyers in Sparta NJ, we got a call from Jan. Jan was a wonderful woman who lived in Newton NJ and was visiting a Church in Sparta when she saw the flyer. She called and met with Freddy and the two fell in love!! Freddy is now the love of her life and he adores her. They have a very happy life now in Newton and his previous family is so happy for him. A perfect pair!

These two pics are updates on Parker's kittens!! Here we have Oscar & Felix (previously Taylor & Brooks). They are so happy in their new home. They are best buds and have a K9-bro Murphy too! See pic below. They were adopted by an awesome couple in Hoboken who had lost their kitty about a year earlier. They only planned on adopting one but when they saw these two together, they decided to take both boys home. So happy they did!!

And here is Parker's other kitten, Truman-Floyd! Truman and his big brother Huey are the best of friends!! They play and snuggle all day long. His loving daddies can't be happier that they adopted TF :) He is such an awesome boy!

Here is Oscar and Murphy!! Murphy has been such a great pup with his new kitten brothers. They really enjoy each other :)

And we wanted to end this update with an update on Ms. Parker!! Parker was found in a park in Hudson County with her 3 kittens. She was on her way to the local shelter when we decided to step in. For some reason, we just needed to foster her and her kittens, even though we had said we were going to be taking a little break after the last group of 5 kittens from River Road. We are so happy we took Parker & her boys in. After we found the boys homes, we started to focus on Parker. We found some okay homes but when it came time to decide, our cat Redford decided for us. He and Parker would play all day and Andy just fell in love with her too. Parker became our third kitty! Our first female kitty too. Red's first friend, one that he always wanted. Here she is, celebrating her 1st birthday (and Andy's 32nd birthday) just the other night! We adore her and are so happy she joined our family!!

My Little Snuggler, Parker :)

Kitten Udpates!!

We have been getting some wonderful kitten updates!
In the first picture, we have Truman-Floyd who is in love with his big brother Huey, who is 2 years old. Huey was depressed when his feline sister passed away at 18 years of age. Huey is thrilled that Truman has joined him home :)
Then we have Brooks & Taylor on their first night in their new home. They were adopted by an amazing couple in Hoboken. They said they are already getting along well with their Beagle-brother and are all settled in.
Another pic of Truman on his first weekend in his new home.
Last we have a new picture of Harley, snuggled up against her 3 year old brother Matrix. :) Matrix took a few weeks to get to know Harley but now they seem to get along just great!!

Welcome Parker & her boys Floyd, Taylor & Brooks!

Big welcome to our newest fosters!! Parker is a nine month old baby girl who was rescued in a local park in North Bergen. She is a super affectionate, gentle, talkative sweetie!! She has three kittens who are all males and we named them Floyd, Brooks & Taylor.
Floyd already found his forever home thanks to our awesome cat sitter's client network! He has been renamed Truman Floyd, which we absolutely ADORE!
Truman is living the good life in Jersey City with his 2 year old feline brother Huey! His daddies have updated us and said that Huey & Truman are best friends already, just two days!!
We can't wait to post update pictures of the happy brothers :)
We have two more couples coming this week to see Parker and her boys so hopefully all will have their forever homes soon. They are such a great little family and super cute.

Nadia Update!

Nadia was the sweet kitten who was found under the Helix in Weehawken by a wonderful woman Melissa! Melissa was walking her dog when she heard Nadia's cries. She put her pup in the car and went back with an empty box and put her inside. She had no idea what she was going to do with her, but she knew she couldn't leave her there. I ran into her on a bike ride thanks to my quick thinking husband and offered to help. We found Nadia a wonderful home in Hoboken with two women who love her so much! They said she is super playful and very cuddly! She also loves to watch soccer on the TV and attack the players on the screen LOL! Nadia is very happy in her new home and we couldn't be happier for her :)

River Road Brothers - Adopted Together!!

Kirby & Diego from the River Road Gang, were adopted together! They went to their forever home in Hoboken Friday night! We are so excited that they will be together forever!! They are the best little guys and their new daddy is a great guy! They have grown so much since we found them that day off of River Rd. We can't wait to hear the names their new daddy picks for them :)
